RFN-Female


Richmond Fellowship Nepal is a Non Governmental Organization working in the field of Drug and Alcohol since 1997. In the process of rehabilitation program, it started a "Peer Recovery Guidance" modality based on the "Therapeutic Community" (T.C.) approach since October 2001 that stresses on detoxification through psycho social method without medication, "restructuring of thinking patterns", "emotional management stability", "behavioral changes", "vocational and survival skills building", "Spiritual Awakening" and "Re-integration into society". RFN is not only limited to treatment facility but at the same time working closely with DUs/IDUs to reduce drug led HIV issues in the country. Among the vulnerable groups in Nepal, rate of HIV infection among the drug users' is significantly very high and without discrimination we have been providing treatment, care and support to the target group including women. The organization has a strong networking with local stakeholders and RFN is an executive member of national network of drug users and drug led organizations.

Goal

To strengthen the national framework strategy for drug abuse control, risk reduction, rehabilitation and counseling services for people using drug generally, those considered to be 'at-risk' of contracting HIV/AIDS, children and adolescents and part of a co-coordinated national system of drug demand reduction.

Objectives

  • To provide essential mental health services to those that need support to be rehabilitated and reintegrated with their families and society
  • To provide a counseling and rehabilitation centre for drug addicts and alcoholics
  • To provide outreach services and create public awareness through various media, school programs and street outreach services, about substance and drug use and misuse.
  • To offer training to staff and other organizations working in similar fields of work
  • To provide the first centre for women addicts in Nepal taking into account to their specific gender needs and making special provision for them
  • To collaborate with, and complement, activities of similar institutions
