Does the Constitution Matter?Introduction Children - and perhaps even adults too - might think that children don't know much about the constitution and the CA and that they need not bother about it. But the truth is that the constitution is almost more important for children than for the older generations. Why? Because the constitution will affect the future of the country, its development and its prosperity, and the rights of the people; it will be one of the factors that affect what the children will be able to do with their lives, what opportunities they will have. And because children have more of their lives ahead of them, the constitution is more important for them. So it just as important for children as it is for adults that the country should have a fair system of government, that people should not be arrested for no good reason, that the police and other public servants should do their work honestly, not take bribes, and should be responsible for their failures. But there are issues that are different for children, or especially important for children. This part of the website is perhaps more about children than for children. We hope to add some more material directed specially at children later. But we hope that even now they will find something of interest to them. |
