Designing Constitutions

The people of Nepal are going to make their own constitution, through the Constituent Assembly - this is what the Interim Constitution says. And that Constitution, as well as the various agreements made between political parties over the last year or so, talks about "restructuring the state", which is a task connected with making the constitution. This will involve thinking about many questions.

In this section you will find:
  • An outline of the main questions that must be considered when making the constitution
  • More detailed material on some of those questions (accessed by clicking on the relevant question) (eventually CASU intends to have some material relevant to all the questions involved in making the new constitution, so this section will be a growing one - watch the home page for indication of additions to the website).
  • Links to material written by others on constitutional design generally (links to material on specific topics will be found under those topics)
  • Links to websites of organisations that have an interest in constitutional design

Please note that this part of the site is very much work in progress. But we shall be adding to it constantly. Please check back regularly to see if there is more information on what interests you. Or feel free to contact us to ask about specific topics - click on Contact us
